Wide leg pants

Do you prefer skirts than skinny jeans or when it is humid? Then you should definitely try these super comfy and modern wide leg pants. Do you know that wide leg pants have been in fashion since 1920’s ?  I heard that these wide leg pants have evolved for horse riding so that woman can ride the horse like men than riding side saddle. That make sense right? Continue reading

Revolutionary Kurti

Kurtis have evolved so much in past few years, from the basic cotton casuals to heavy party wear. There are lot of choices in kurti designs.  Kurtis can be picked either for Indo western or traditional look. They come in different lengths and patterns . Different lengths include waist or hip length, hem or thigh length, knee length and floor length .  For those who are not comfortable wearing short pant tops but don’t want to give up on jeans , hem length Kurtis are a perfect choice to pair the jeans.  Kurtis can be paired with skinny/distressed jeans or jeggings/leggings or a Skirt.  You can style Kurtis to suit the place you are going.  Add heavy earrings, bangles for a Indian traditional touch.  Pair it up with belt orJacket or scarf for a Indo western look. I think a light color kurti with minimal accessories is classy and comfortable for office wear. Below pics shows few different patterns that are in trend for a while.

Here are the details for each dress:

  1. A casual kurti styled with contrast colors . Brown Kurti and red flats bought from a local handloom shop in Hyderabad.  “Always say yes to Handlooms”
  2. Yellow Asymmetric kurti from Jabong https://www.jabong.com/women/. Quality and fitting are amazing. If you are an online shopper , you should definitely try it.  Blue Flats from handloom shop.
  3. Mustard and blue kurti with short overcoat . This is from a retail shop Rithika , Hyderbad.
  4. Navy blue and Orange Floor length with long overcoat kurti, I think it actually looked like a skirt paired with long kurti.  Rithika, Hyderbad.  I do like this shop as they have lot of variety but only problem is sometimes quality of the cloth have to be checked before buying specifically if you do machine wash.

Silk Saree and its grandness

Hello there,

Summer is here and so is the wedding season in India.  Weddings are always fun and most importantly for girls, it’s the time to dress up at our best.  Wedding in the immediate family is a perfect time to showcase our heavy sarees and jewelry. Handloom silk sarees such as Kancheepuram,  Benarasi, Ikkat, Pochampalli etc are the epitome of ethnic wear. If you are wearing a rich saree you don’t even need jewelry to look elegant. It’s not that only elderly or middle-aged women can wear silk sarees. Nowadays young girls are also preferring Kancheepuram silk sarees for traditional social gatherings.   Continue reading

Hello everyone,

Hope you all are busy with Sankranti celebrations.  Sankranti festival which marks the start of the new season is celebrated in many parts of India with some variations and it is known by different names.  In south India, we usually celebrate with bonfires, offering prayers to sun god and cattle, colorful rangoli, Gollu (Doll Collection), fairs and of course lot of food varieties and new dresses.  Coming to dresses, in south India, we have a tradition to give Sarees or some kind of traditional dress as a gift to girls on special occasions. Have you received an outfit as a gift from anyone but didn’t use it because it is so different from your taste or you didn’t like the color etc? Continue reading

The Highlighter

Hello there,

I am back with an outfit that gives comfort as well as preserves cultural values,  Salwar suit. It is considered as a traditional dress in few parts of India.  When I am a kid, most of the married women are allowed to wear either Saree or Salwar suit.  Good that traditions are changing and women are allowed to wear what they like irrespective of the marital status. Now let’s talk about the highlighter. Continue reading
