Hello everyone,
Hope you all are busy with Sankranti celebrations. Sankranti festival which marks the start of the new season is celebrated in many parts of India with some variations and it is known by different names. In south India, we usually celebrate with bonfires, offering prayers to sun god and cattle, colorful rangoli, Gollu (Doll Collection), fairs and of course lot of food varieties and new dresses. Coming to dresses, in south India, we have a tradition to give Sarees or some kind of traditional dress as a gift to girls on special occasions. Have you received an outfit as a gift from anyone but didn’t use it because it is so different from your taste or you didn’t like the color etc?
Before rejecting the outfit, did you ever thought if that outfit can be styled differently and can bring out the best of it? Next time, when you receive an outfit think of different contrast or style blouse, dupatta, Jewelry or it can be altered to make a different outfit at the least. Coming to colors, I heard many girls saying ‘this color doesn’t suit me’. I agree that some colors suit you very well than other colors, but you should try all colors unless you have very strong opinion about it.
You might have many outfits of your own choice what if few outfits are not of your choice? This is just my opinion about outfits that received as gifts and not used or just being passed on from one to another. Next time think about it and let me know if you have tried anything that you received as a gift.
On the occasion of Sankranthi, I chose to wear a traditional saree with a lovely variation of green color and accessorized with German silver jewelry. And here is how it looks.
